Swaged thermocouple elements are used in the temperature measurement of non-ferrous molten metals and offer a more durable alternative to expendable thermocouples.
The heat resistant steel sheath has a ceramic coating and protects an internal type ‘K’ mineral insulated thermocouple which is fixed into the swaged tip to ensure fast response. The element is then hermetically sealed and has a 2mm mineral insulated lead wire that can be supplied in various lengths.
These elements are suitable for use in non-ferrous molten metals including aluminium, brass, bronze, magnesium and copper.
Subject to proper use and dependant on the type of metal and slag conditions we would typically expect these elements to last up to 900 cycles into molten metal.
